Saint Jude the Apostle
How you can help Saint Jude
Scripture informs us that Jesus had many disciples. Some, like Saints Mary, Martha, and Lazarus, were very close to Him and His Apostles and often provided hospitality and rest in their home. Others, like Saint Joseph of Arimathea, offered public testimony of their belief, as he did when he bravely asked Pilate for the Lord’s body so he could place Him in his tomb.
The Gospel of Luke tells us about a special group of disciples who funded the Lord and His Apostles:
Jesus went on through cities and villages, preaching and bringing the good news of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with him, and also some women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities: Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, and Joanna, the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, who provided for them out of their means.
(Luke 8:1-3)
When he ministered with Jesus, Saint Jude relied on the contributions made by generous souls. Today, he is once again in need.
1. Funding His Apostolic Journey Through the United States
From September 2023 to May 2024, Saint Jude’s relics will make stops in 100 cities. However, with your help, we hope to make stops in over 200 cities.
This tour does not receive any funding apart from the pilgrims that visit it. Our goal is for the reliquary to visit as many people as possible. Your donations enable us to add more cities and states to the itinerary.
2. Funding the Restoration of the Shrine That Houses His Relics
For centuries, Saint Jude’s reliquary has been kept in a shrine within the Chiesa di San Salvatore in Lauro, a magnificent Roman church close to St. Peter’s Basilica.
The church is immaculately kept and possesses one of the most robust liturgical schedules of any church within the Eternal City.
However, the passing of time brings inevitable deterioration that afflicts all physical things, and San Salvatore in Lauro is no exception. Its dome has sustained damage from lightning strikes and storms and badly needs repair.
Your donations will enable us to undertake this needed project.
